Online CLE
The State Bar of California offers various options for self-study and participatory activities that are approved for MCLE (minimum continuing legal education) credit. Specific credit information varies and is identified in each individual activity.
Participatory CLE Credit
The Sections offer ongoing opportunities for continuing legal education credit:
State Bar Online CLE for Participatory Credit — View Section programs over the internet for participatory MCLE credit. The catalog contains more than 550 seminars with 650 hours of online CLE (includes 450 seminars by California attorneys for California attorneys) with 125 seminars in the areas of Ethics, Elimination of Bias and Detection / Prevention of Substance Abuse. Programs are offered at both modem and broadband connection speeds.
Self-Study CLE Credit
Versa-Tape Company — Versa-Tape has a large library of CDs and audio cassettes of educational programs sponsored by the State Bar of California. State Bar Sections Online CLE Articles — Online articles from Section publications are available for self-study MCLE credit. Each article is worth 1 hour of self-study credit. Read an article and then take a 20-question quiz. The price is $15 per article. The answers and justifications are available immediately upon submitting the quiz. Earn up to 12.5 hours of self-study credit per reporting period.
California Bar Journal MCLE on the Web — The State Bar offers low-cost self-study activities that are approved for MCLE credit. The State Bar certifies that each of the activities conforms to the standards for approved education activities prescribed by the rules and regulations of The State Bar of California governing minimum continuing legal education.
